A few nights back I got set up with the intention of adding more data to a dso image. Decided to turn the scope to the moon and try the video mode on the ASI Air. Surprised how well the rays were visible so took a short video. Spacecat 51 ZWO2600MC . L Xtreme filter SW GTI MOUNT

Star Adventurer GTi Mount Advice
Astroscot2 replied to Bargy's topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
I was between the SW gti and the AM5. Took a punt at the GTI and glad I did. I have same set up as per your initial post and the Gti carries it with no issues and I'm close to 4kgs. Guiding is good, RMS is between 0.6 - 1 which is good enough for the spacecat 51. Picture below is pre cable tidy. -

Very nicely processed Lee, you have the core how I like it, the brightest part of the nebula as how it should be presented . -

Good AP astrophotography locations around the world
Astroscot2 replied to Elp's topic in Imaging - Discussion
A visit to Namibia a number of years ago was the most productive imaging I've ever had and the most amazing skies I've ever seen. Doubt I will get the opportunity to repeat.- 21 replies

Desperate to get out and do some imaging, only 2 clear nights since Jan 1st this year so far. Last night was a cracker. seeing was poor but tried a few crater shots with the Newt. 10" newt, QHY 462C camera, IR850nm filter. Image soft but love viewing these craters up close. Mark Petivius.tif

Visually stunning book, I need to revisit it soon. -
I was looking at buying a good quality 3x barlow which would give me the optimum resolution for my scope / camera pixel size. for planet / moon imaging. As I already own a TV x2 barlow is there any advantages / disadvantages to adding an extender to increase the magnification? example a 60 - 70 mm extender would increase the magnification to 3X, far cheaper than purchasing another barlow? Lovely image.... what kind of frame rates are you getting with your 174? Mark -
Dear FLO what happened to the Vixen products?
Astroscot2 replied to plyscope's topic in Discussions - Scopes / Whole setups
I bought lots of items from TS before B.....t, was a good service and some kit you could not easily source in the UK, I had my eye on an very nice ONTC newtonian but that option has now gone with the added costs of duty and taxes. -

The achievements of The Apollo 17 mission.
Astroscot2 replied to Grump Martian's topic in The Astro Lounge
Thanks for sharing, will have a watch later I was listening to the audio of the Apollo 11 landing, really impressed with how calm and collected Collins, Armstrong and particular Buzz who was doing most of the communication , he even drops in a bit of humour at one point while decending at 6000mph towards the surface. I didnt know that Eagle was on auto pilot untill 6000 feet from touchdown. One thing I did notice was Houston continually ensuring all was go, the pressure on Armstrong must of been huge. Definitely the right stuff. -
Adam. Bern at MA replaced the camera. All good now thanks.

Hello, Im using Sharpcap for capturing, Ive not been able to get the frame rate much over 55fps as im having to increase the exposure. I will try a few experiments with and without filter and compare results. I could possibly try more sharpening in post, the images do have a dreamy softness to them. Mark
