  1. Give me a second would you! You managed to moan within seconds of me posting and trying to attach the correct files😆
  2. A rare clear sky on Friday, attempted another mosaic with the 10 inch, lots of issues capturing the 19 frames, also took a few quick close ups but the seeing had gone down hill from earlier. 10" Newtonian, 3X TV barlow, ASI 174mm IR pass 650 filter. Close ups 5x TV powermate.
  3. Desperate to see the sky took a few fres around the South Pole of the moon last night Seeing was very por but just happy getting out as its been over 1 month since I saw the sky.
  4. I found this so looks to be a known object.
  5. Wonder if anyone can help assist Identify the small fuzzy blob near 16 monoceros in this image. Should also mention this is quite a deep image of around 14 hrs, quick rough process. Thanks
  6. Very sad news, such a talented telescope maker. A great loss to the astronomy community. My condolences to his family at this time. Mark
  7. It's a favourite read of mine, first time I read it I immediately went back to the start and read ir again, I've not felt like this with any other book. As a young astronomer I owned another of his books Guideposts to the stars, that book grew my curiosity in astronomy and 40 odd years later I still love looking up. Mark.
  8. After watching the latest video I wondered how short changed those who paid for Astrobiscuit and buddies felt at the end. Drinking in the hot tub is hardly astronomy, didn't understand the urgency to image same night as the larger telescope either? And why not test the scope before taking it abroad? All a bit fake.
  9. Thanks Kostas Let me have another try with the points you mention above. Mark
  10. Yes its a great place to visit, my 4th time there. This little hut used to be the local school house!
  11. Beautiful clear sky last Tuesday night in the highlands, was staying in Clashgour hut for a few nights and fired off a few frames, really cold night -10, but the skies were superb.
  12. During November I managed 10 nights imaging Jupiter, most of which Ive deleted as the seeing has been so poor, A few nights ago the seeing seemed better than usual and I captured a number of SER files for processing. As processed single files they are not that spectacular however I ve tried without any success combining and de-rotating the images in Winjupos. No mater what I do I get a smeared image, Ive watched many tutorials and unless im missing something really obvious I cant get it to work. All the images are UT stamped, my lat and long are entered, hitting F11 does not always place the planet stencil over Jupiter correctly so I have manually adjusted this. Im selecting an image around the middle of the vids as a reference time. The image is not being de-rotated as far as I can see only stacked. Any thoughts? Mark
  13. Started this image back in Oct after the Kielder star party while staying in Hexham. Taken through the Spacecat 51 telescope, ZWO 2600mc pro, L-Ultimate filter sat on SW adventurer GTI mount. 62 x 10mins Mark
  14. This book and Leslie Peltier's book Guidepost to the stars started my fascination with astronomy, I also recommend Peltiers book Starlight Nights, a great read Mark
  15. Hello Kostas. Those are excellent results, im getting nowhere near the details you are managing to pull through. I see your colour image is sharper and showing more details than your IR pass image, does your colour data include the IR pass date as luminance in your processing? Mark
  16. Love this little book, brings back so many memories. Robert Aytons artwork is excellent.
  17. I noticed this too recently, I was not converting the file type yet the output file size increased?
  18. I had a similar problem a year or so ago with a triplet, leaving the scope pointing at the Sun was not an option for me as I live in Scotland, I purchased a UV-C light based on recmommendations to stop the growth getting any worse which worked. I was able to get a hold of Es via another forum member, initiallly I had been advised by a vendor that Es was too busy to help as he had other commitments, this turned out not to be the case, Es was able to clean and re-assemble the lens with which turned out to be quite a job (Skywatcher APO). He did a great job and I recommend him. Mark
  19. If it were I, I would go down the OAG route with a Newtonian. Mark
  20. Managed to view the comet last night with 8x40 bins and adverted vision, it was just about n the edge of visibility but definitely there.
  21. Hello , Had mine for over 1 year now and love this little portable mount. I have just over 4 kgs and have no issues, run everything via ASI plus. Typical RMS around 0.7 -1.00 however been as low as 0.4. My intention was to start with the gti and upgrade to an AM5? no longer my plan as the gti works brilliantly. Some recent images with it. Mark
  22. Hello Geof. Fairly clear last night so took a number of SERs over the evening, I tried the IR 685 filter and was pleased with the results, what a difference it made to the overall image, I could quite clearly see details in poles on screen. I have 70GB to look through and this quickly processed image made me happier. Mark
  23. Hello Geof Keeping the capture duration to 90 seconds max. Taking the stacked file into PIPP to align frames. I'm using AS3 to analyse and stack, typically I aim for the top 10% quality frames which can be around 1000 frames total. Registax 6 for wavelets, sharpening and De-noise Winjupos to de-rotate and stack final images Pixinsight for final adjustments. During the Mars opposition last year, I was getting fairly good results with the above excluding Winjupos and Mars was only 18" , I sort of expected good detail on Jupiter also, im Not seeing the wow effect of wavelets at alll on Jupiter. Mark
  24. Hello. Thanks for the reply, yes the seeing has been poor. Im not sure what you mean by setting the time for the middle of the captures, my understanding is that Winjupos takes the UT time from the image info and de-rotates accordingly, unless ive missed this on the tutorials? Mark
