  1. Excellent images of Jupiter given it’s height πŸ‘
  2. Hmmmmm πŸ€” Maybe they know something about Brexit we don’t πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
  3. Congrats, please post photos and a first light review πŸ‘πŸ™‚
  4. @Star Struck any chance you could post a photo of that Vixen dovetail please ?

    Hi from Italy

Hello Kanita and welcome to SGL. You have a very nice telescope. Clear skies
  6. Here is the finder setup you all want πŸ˜‚ White OTA with Green focuser. White Tak unobtanium 8x50 RA finder on a Green holder πŸ‘πŸ˜
  7. The only thing I would be wary of is the wind blowing sand around.
  8. Another option.... Here is a Black Skywatcher 6x30 on a Standard Skywatcher bracket - the base has been flattened to fit the silver Tak quick release. As John says ADM do a black quick release for a lot less......
  9. Great image, I was also out last night and the view was similar to that. Apart from all the details πŸ˜‚
  10. Probably weighs the same as your scope πŸ€”
  11. I sold my 50mm Tak finder as I found the cross hairs were so fine they were impossible to see. I could have bought an illuminator that would have sorted the problem but it was more expensive than the standard Skywatcher finder !!
  12. I use standard skywatcher 9x50 RACI’s on both of mine.
  13. As usual views were better just after sunset and have now got worse. Earlier the GRS was very easy and there was a definite thinning of the SEB to the right of the GRS. Just swung the scope round to Saturn and could just make out the Cassini and the darker polar region on the planet but not much else.
  14. Yes John, Ganymede is slightly brighter too due to it’s size perhaps ? Am using my TSA102 with binoviewers tonight
  15. When I was a teenager we had a piece in the local newspaper of several independent sightings of two bright lights interacting in the night sky for over an hour close to where I lived. It slowly dawned on me that it was the same night my friend and I - just to do something different - had flown our stunt kites in the dark with small torches hanging off the tails. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
  16. Very good seeing giving good detsils on Jup - GRS just about to disappear though
  17. A guess - but if in good condition around GBP 375
  18. I compared an 8” Newtonian to a C8 a few years ago..... https://stargazerslounge.com/topic/134458-jupiter-1st-feb-2012-c8-v-8-newt/
  19. It’s a Good idea to check out your club members 10” Dobsonian πŸ‘ Yes as you say a Newtonian will cool down faster than an SCT due to active cooling and will also continue to closely match dropping temperatures during the evening better.
