Hi Simon - that looks painfully similar to my own captures from this morning.   The seeing was poor and the trans was not good despite a nice dark sky.   Still it was great to get out after almost three weeks of diabolical (I mean traditional English!) weather and the dark sky was visually very nice with a faint band of the milky way discernable.    How did you fare with the dew?   My scope was dripping on the outside and I had to break out the hair dryer twice.      Hopefully we'll get some good clear cold nights soon!

Certainly got the GRS - Shrinking GRS! - Plenty of detail lurking there too Simon including an interesting chain of spots above left.

                                            Best regards,

                                                                  Ralph

Cheers Jake regards to the dew, the hair dryer was on overtime lol, & both bad trans & seeing to boot, i didnt expect to much given the poor data but it keeps us on our toes, hope we all get some decent seeing conditions soon with a bit of luck!

Thanks  Ralph i too have noticed that intresting chain of spots, Jupiter never fails to impress me!

Thanks Stuart - Pete, the morning of the 24th looked lovely & clear, but like you said Stuart diabolical seeing, its a bit like - - - - - - - in the wind lol, but any new data is better than no data at all especially with the lack of clear skys lately

Nice job Simon. I haven't had a chance to look at Jupiter since it's come back . Knowing your high previous quality captures I can see how the seeing has held you back a small bit.

When I was out on the 23rd on Uranus my scope was like someone had chucked a bucket of water over it. Neighbours definitely wondering why they could hear a hair dryer late at night :-)

Can't wait for a go at Jupiter ...may have get up early before the children !

Cheers Simon appreciated:

The images were very poor & no amount of processing can alter that ( you cannot turn dirt into gold) :wink2:

True Simon. but out of interest on what is happening on the planet at any given time. At least you are posting the bad  nights. Sometimes I feel like I cant be bothered, but its still part of our astro journey. And that's never a bad thing. You have done as well as you can. and that's as good as you can expect from yourself. Under the circumstances, the images still show quite a lot
