Mars & Comet ISON from Kelling Heath

Taken at the Kelling Heath Star Party 5am BST (4am GMT) Sunday 6th October. 

4 x 3 minute exposures stacked.

Canon 350D on Takahashi Epsilon 180ED with IDAS LP2 filter.

I like that. ISON is finally starting to look like a proper comet. There's hope yet for a good naked eye show.

I love images like this where objects are framed within a context. Good to see ISON starting to look 'comet' like.

wow that is superb what a fantastic photo just magical ison and mars togeather is that the true colour green or  something to do with the prossing of photo.

still a mind blowing shot cant wait to see it for myself and hope many more great photos arrive.

I have to admit I was a bit worried when I saw it coming out green but that is the colour the DSLR gave it, even after colour balancing, so I posted the image as it appeared.  I've since done a quick Google search on "ISON green coma" and have discovered that, yes, there are other images that confirm ISON now definitely has a green coma.

Not that i am ever going to get up at the ungodly hour of 4-5 am (i'd stay up late rather then wake up early), but do you think it would be visible with 20x90 bins?.

Could be. If you can spot mag 10 galaxies, this should be in range.
