Up early today as forecast looked a little dicey after about 8 am today. Paid off as I was rewarded with beautiful blue skies. Was up so early I had time to grab some Ha avi's as well but will have to process those when I get home tonight.

Very nice detail. Those big ARs on the southern hemisphere looked stunning in H-alpha yesterday. They are also putting up a lovely show in white light.

Very nice Dave, lots of detail visible today. I hope you don't mind, I cropped and flipped part of your image to compare with a sketch I've just done (at 1pm). Nice comparison, and you can see the changes which have happened since your image.

@ant - prime focus of the Evostar, no barlow. I bought this scope around this time last year specifically for this application s the focal length and aperture combination would give me a good image scale on the 1100D chip. At some point I may get my mount tracking in which case I may look at either a barlow or a change of scope to increase the image scale again. For the moment I need room to allow the Sun to track across the frame during the 90 or so seconds of capture.
