What a treat! A whole evening of clear skies without minus double figure temperatures! Thought I'd best make the most of it while it lasted.

4 hours exposure in SII - Red, OIII - Blue and Ha - Green.

Well done John and congrats on getting some clear skies. Was that 4 hours in each channel or total? You've got some lovely Ha detail but, for me the image is dominated by Ha, with a few wisps of OIII poking through. If you have 4 hours of SII and OIII you should be able to push the 2 weaker channels a bit more to bring out the hubble colours.

Bob Franke has put together an excellent tutorial including some great tips on using the selective colour tool. Works really well.

Hi Martin,

Alas I'm not lucky enough to get enough clear sky to get 4 hours in each channel, just 4 hours in total so far. Next time the clouds part I'll be going back for more.

I'm using PixInsight for calibration, stacking and processing - the link you posted looks like it will be very useful as I also have CS5 which I haven't used for astro work yet.

It's always good to get some opinions on your images, thank you very much for the advice. :)
