30/10/2010 - Clavius to Ptolemaeus mosaic (Skymax 127)

Dear All,

Clear skies at 5am and I managed to drag myself out of bed! Attached is a mosaic from south pole, taking in Clavius, Tycho and up to Herschel. Seeing was fairly good. Can't seem to get upload to work properly, so image is much reduced in size (still, that does make it look better)!

Great to be imaging after endless cloudy skies!

Reprocessed Clavius section of mosaic, this time upturned, which seems to look better. Stacked frames in Registax and used the new & improved 'drizzle' function in latest version before rescaling to 50%. Somehow the image appears better and cleaner than original (even though they end up the same size).

Really nice crisp images. Love the Clavius one. The 127 Maks sure punch above their weight. A better result than I've managed on my 250.

Hi James, yeah, the drizzle and resizing function is really interesting. I would be interested to see what you discover if you give it a go. For sure, with some images there is little (if no) difference but with my Clavius image, I really noticed a change and an improvement with sharpness and noise.
