I've just registered on this forum as I've recently re-kindled my interest in this great hobby after so many years. It's nice to see how things have moved on with the latest equipment, but at the same time still see that some things never change. The community spirit and friendliness is still present and none more so than on this forum.

Hi Pilkinn and welcome to the forum. There is certainly more choice of gear out there that can suit most pockets and most interests. Astro photography has seen probably the biggest change given the advent of digital technology but it's also nice to see that so many people are also interested in just observing.

I remember going to a meeting organised by "The Astronomer" magazine (which I think is still going) back when I was still a teenager (nearly 30 years ago now :icon_salut:) and there were a couple of guys there domonstrating something called CCDs. It was like watching some science experiment. However even then we knew that we were seeing into the near future.
