Arzachel to Ptolemaeus

Hi all,

A good night's seeing on the 13/14 October provided some opportunities to take some detailed pics of the Moon. Here's a mosaic showing the craters Arzachel, Alphonsus and Ptolemaeus...

We were wondering a while back why there wasn't more talk about Meade scopes - these images are worth a thousand words!!!

Beautiful pictures, what focuser have you got on the LX Pete?

It's the Meade electric focuser - the one that comes with the GPS models as standard I believe. I upgraded the manual focusing knob with a Peterson focuser upgrade. This makes it turn and focus very smoothly. However, I only use this for rough focus and then switch to the electronic one for the fine tuning. My Autostar handset is pants and the buttons often stick. A bit annoying when you've just achieved perfect focus and go to nudge the scope slightly to one side with the direction controls only to find out that they are still set to focus mode and you've just lost it!
