Hello all, just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Chris and I just got my first telescope at christmas, its a skywatcher 130m and still getting to grips with it as only been able to use it a few times with the weather

so far I have been able to get good views of the moon and a few wide angle views of other common features, but planets seem to be a problem with them being fuzzy and no detail just a ball of light so am certain i am doing something wrong

Welcome to SGL, planets are very tricky to get any detail as there are so many factors involved.
