Beautiful Mars! 10-02-10

Hi everyone, This image of Mars was taken earlier this evening around 11pm. Taken at f30 through my trusty C8 sct and DMK21AU04/Astronomik RGB filter set. The best 1000/4500 frames were processed in Registax and combined in Photoshop CS3. Seeing conditions were above average and I was delighted to finally catch a 'classic view' image of Mars. This particular image is my best of the season. I hope you all like.

That's brillliant James. I had a go at Mars myself on te 9th and 10th. My skies were particularly good on the 9th but no so good on the 10th. I got my best Mars to date on the 9th using my CCD Security cam attached to my CPC925GPS to see if it would fare better than the Neximage, and it did, but no were near as good as yours. I'm going to have to get one of those DMKs eventually.

I will post my Mars, but not a patch on yours - well done!

Thanks again Karlo, Brinders and Helen. The DMK cameras are an excellent addition to any setup. When I was deciding which one to get I was torn between the convenience of the colour version and the increased sensitivity of the the b&w version. I'm delighted I chose the latter. Using the filters is really not as intimidating as it first seems. Well worth a try Helen.

Really great stuff, really shows what you can get out of a C8. I hope tonight we have clear skies, and I can have a crack at Mars with my C8. Don't have a DMK, but I will see what I can squeeze out of my SPC900.
