Hi

I have been desperate to get a 285 chip for ages, and finally managed to get an Atik 314L+. Thanks to Bern at modernastronomy.com for putting up with me for many months!

Here are my first lights, taken through my SW 200p.

Both will be getting more time spent on them, but for a start I am happy with them :)

M16 :

Ha 5 x 15 mins

M27 :

Ha 3 x 15 mins

OIII 3 x 15 mins

Synthetic green

(also a first attempt at doing a coloured image using filters)

Thanks Kevin :)

Yeah this colour imaging lark will take some getting used to.

I also done a version without a synthetic green, simply Ha-OIII-OIII.

That one looked like a better colour, but didnt show so much detail.

More practice required :)

Arran, those are great results, you must be delighted!! Look how much of the really faint stuff you have caught around M27, and with so few exposures, still nice and smooth.

Very nice... :)

I'm Waiting for a lottery win before going down the dedicated CCD route.... so it might be some time...

Peter...

I quit smoking and saved the money I spent each month to buy mine :)

Very nice set of images Arran, you must be very pleased with your purchase. Does the new setpoint cooling work very well in the 314L+.

Steve

Thanks Steve.

After deciding I dont need darks, I dont bother using it.

I just go full bore on the max cooling it can do.

But yeah it seemed to work fine when I was doing some tests with darks :)

Cheer Neil and Ron :)

I have tried to quit smoking before, but never succeeded.

It was the thought of getting the camera that kept me off them!

Everytime I wanted a cigarette, I thought "CCD or FAG?"

Then it was easy :)

I attempted to get some OIII and SII data last night, but got clouded out after one sub of each :)

Just being silly I added the data to my Ha set anyway.

And here is the Hubble version.

Of course this is work in progress, as I aim to get quite a few hours for each channel, but I was surprised to see this materialise.
