Looking at a wider field view, it gets even nicer, with Ganymede way off to the left and tiny Amalthea much closer to the planet. I wonder if anyone can capture 5 moons tonight. There is also Thebe at mag 15.47 between Io and Europa, but that is probably a stretch too far!

Looking at the weather in Hastings right now, I can't foresee it clearing up enough to see this 😥

Thanks for the heads up. I'm hoping to do some planetary imaging tonight pending on the MET forecast being correct. It's been raining all morning so I'm not holding my breath.

OK I may regret tempting fate here but we now have completely clear skies on the East Sussex coast! 😀

What a sight. Thanks for the heads up. I captured the event. I will post in the imaging session later when I have done it properly. It looks fake as if the moons are pasted in a straight line.

I managed to see it. And as @Kon says “what a sight”. Although for me the seeing was rather pants and it clouded over soon after.

I caught the GRS and Europa transit earlier and seeing the alignment is a nice finish.  The sky is still clear but the seeing is by far the worst of several sessions in the last 10 days, so I will call it a day.

Just missed it at 20:16 as there was a 10 minute window of cloud!

Captured it on my deep sky rig though at 20:28.  No prizes but at least recognisable as Jupiter.

I ended up going out for family a meal and then to the cinema so I've only just been able to get a scope out. Just 2 moons in a line now with Io having gone into hiding 🙄

Nice details in the NEB though.
