Fantastic activity again today 9th January 2023

After a week of cloud and rain, I managed a session this afternoon and got an M1 class flare in AR3181. Screenshots for now, will get around to processing some time this week, also the activity from the 2nd of January. Lunt 60mm DS HA, 125mm Bresser with Lunt Cak b1800 module filter and Zwo Asi 178mm camera. Winds occasionally gusting up to 65 miles per hour and fast moving clouds. Challenging session today but it was nice to see the sun in between the clouds.

Thanks for sharing Nigella, lucky you getting clear enough.

Typical the only clear while the Sun was visible without cloud I was sat on a Teams meeting with work.
Of course its clear now, but the suns set below the treeline!

Sol is being busy 😀

Excellent Nigella, that's a great capture.  Alas, by the time I'd taken my snaps in WL this morning I didn't have time to roll put the PST. ( before the conditions deteriorated again).

Least you got WL, an observation is better than nothing

Oh dear, but the solar cycle is certainly ramping up and several M class flares since yesterday but clouds prevented me from seeing those. Still, hopefully as spring arrives there will be even more activity for us.

Great work Nigella!

It is fascinating to see your AS!3.14 settings. In complete contrast to my own.
I believe strongly in following the experts where I can.
You have done the heavy lifting to reach your high level of widely recognised competence.
So I'd be very interested to see your ImPPG settings.
If you should have a sample of a typical ImPPG screen capture lying about somewhere. 😊

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris, I'll be doing some processing from the 9th January tomorrow so I'll do some screen grabs for you.

Thank you Nigella. 😊

As good as your word and a whole basketful of goodies to study.

That final, elongated AR is mind blowing!

Just the sort of stuff to get the dark side astronomers excited enough to try their luck at capturing our own star.

Thanks and best regards,

Chris

Yeah, why look at little small blobs when you've an active star on your doorstep, lol. I keep encouraging people to come from the dark side, lol.
