A seek for astro camera modification (DSLR)!

Recommended Posts

I am saving up for another Canon 600D, as the first one can be dedicatingly for nature photography, lunar photography and more. Whilst the astro modified camera will be dedicated for deepsky astrophotography. I am seeking camera specialists/professionalists to modify the camera since I am only 17 with no experience of electrical engineering so I would find a professional to modify the camera for me so I won't have any risks of breaking the camera myself. For some it could be easy to do it themselves but for me as I am also clumsy can break things.

Feel free to send advice, ways and tips as I am on the road to this astro modification.

Cheers

William

I got mine from him also. You don't need two cameras, you can simply adjust the white balance profile if it's just had it's IR filter removed, and set the white balance back when you do astro. I've never changed mine though, I can always adjust any daytime photos in post processing.

Can you redirect me to Juan please so I can contact him about it?

+1 for Juan if you get the baader filter mod you can use for Astro and terrestrial, Juans service is top notch he modded a 1000d and also fixed a 500d which I had a chip in the ir filter and Juan went above and beyond to fix it even though my camera screws had rusted solid , Juan fixed with parts from old camera parts he had .

I use Andy Ellis at Astronomiser, in fact I just sent him my canon 6d to be modded on Monday. He's been modding cameras for a long time and is very experienced, his pricing is also extremely competitive and his communication is excellent.

Good to know Andy's still at it , for some reason I thought he'd retired .

If you want to save some money, just Astro mod your current camera and use an Original White Balance (OWB) filter to correct it for normal daytime photography. Take a look at this thread, works perfectly in daytime
