Thanks chaps, I had all the pictures but somehow i deleted some by mistake it takes about 2 mins to slide the roof off the great think is your ready to go at a Min's notice and if you only want an hour you can best thing i ever did. May re do the roof at some stage

Excellent job! I had considered putting a pier in my back yard, and putting a bird feeder on top of it in daytime, to keep the noise down.

What are your pier dimentions? I was under the impression the best rule of thumb was that your pier should be the same diameter as the scope it's holding to stop sway and harmonic motion? How are you finding the steel box section?
