Right Angled Eyepiece for Polarscope

I have no experience of the adapter. My main mount is obsy fixed so the contortionist routine is not an every day routine.

An alternative to consider is a cheap webcam mated to the polar scope.
I have seen these mentioned somewhere. Sorry I don't remember a date or source.

David.

Steve Tonkin (@BinocularSky) produced an article that is on the Sky At Night website that details how to make one of these from a cheap right angled camera viewfinder attachment and a plastic plumbing fitting for much less money and little effort.

https://www.skyatnightmagazine.com/advice/build-a-right-angled-polarscope-adaptor/

The camera viewfinder attachment I got from ebay does mirror the image, but that doesn't really confuse the matter any more than using a refractor as its a simple left-right flip.  I guess you could pick up a correct orientation viewfinder attachement.

I picked up one of these (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pentax-Right-angle-viewfinder/323954870284?hash=item4b6d37080c:g:pb0AAOSwZGldrbRa)

The metal attachment that slides onto the camera viewfinder eyepiece just unscrews.  You just need to make sure that you don't pick up one of the versions that has a moulded plastic eyepiece attachment as its not clear whether these can be modified.

Hi,

I use a 90 degree angled viewer and for me who live at 60 latitude it's an enormus difference.

I have it written down here:

http://www.astrofriend.eu/astronomy/projects/project-star-adventurer-angled-viewfinder/project-star-adventurer-angled-viewfinder.html

The viewer FLO have looks to be the same as I have, but with included adapter, my plan is to 3D print the adapter later.

One of the screws has snapped off but it works just as well with the 2 remaining screws.

PM me if you're interested..
