Wow ! Thanks for the votes everyone :)

What a lovely image by James. Hard won too if you have to walk about breathless and cold up there.

Well done to Moonboy. One of the most attractive Moon images I've ever seen. Simply stunning,

Dave

Spectacularly good pics.  Well done to the three of you and to all the winners through the year.  These challenges are a great idea, thank you to the admin and mod team for coming up with the ideas, organising and judging

Thank you - I was a little breathless but I'd spent the previous three months on my bike with my boy Tom to get fit which worked a treat!!

Congratulations! There were some amazing images last year.

No DSOs in the top 3, I think maybe these images speak more to people as they're less "abstract" (in addition to being excellent). Well, @James' image got my vote anyway :)

Thank you Shibby... there were some stunning DSO's in the challenges (of a standard I don't think I could meet) and I must admit to feeling a tad awkward that my 30 second exposure got more votes...

But, for anyone with a DSLR, minimal fitness and a bit of patience to wait for the other tourists taking snaps with torches pointed at the Milky Way to go away -  that image was taken from a spot publically accessible by car, at night. You just need patience (it's a long drive up the mountain), more patience (organising trips to La Palma can be tricky as there's not always much in the way of flights etc), even more patience (waiting for the aforementioned tourists to go away), even more patience (waiting for the wind to die down).. well, you catch my drift.

Seconded, it's a huge amount of work behind the scenes (apparently! It's not me doing it!). Thank you to @JOC for organising a thread with all the challenge pictures in one thread!

Now I've just to work out how to crowdfund my next trip out to La Palma ;)

James
