....so it it pronounced "Nagg-ler" or "Nay-gler"?

I've heard both pronunciations used in intereviews with Al. He does not seem to mind which way it's said !

Well Al himself pronounces it Nay-gler in the video, so you would presume he knows how to say his own name.

David Bowie didn't know how to pronounce his own name accoding to Texans.  Texas Revolutionary figure Jim Bowie pronounced it "BooEee", so naturally we pronouce the singer as David "BooEee" as well.

Presumably, he could pronounce Jones, though.  He changed it to Bowie so he didn't have the same name as one of the Monkees, apparently. If you change your name, it might be a good idea to check how to say it (or not).

Ha ha! I don't think David Bowie knew what planet he was on half the time let alone how to pronounce his name !

Of course Bowie was his stage name so he had no family  terms of reference to rely on. ?
