Hi Astronomers,

Tonight since the seeing was terrible, instead of struggling for longer than necessary to realize that I'm not going to see any more features on Mars, I decided to do a couple of wide angle shots.

This one needs no introduction for anyone in the Southern Hemisphere... or at least it shouldn't...

clear skies...

Wonderful colours and you have done a great job keeping colour in these very bright stars whilst also capturing so many faint ones.  I have not noticed in photos before that so many stars can be found in the Coal-sack.  Well done!

I was expecting that area to be totally devoid of stars too, but I guess there are some faint stars between the coal sack and us... I wasn't going to erase the stars, which are obviously there, just to keep in line with expectations... Astrophotography seems to occasionally reveal the unexpected.
