NGC 3344 in leo minor

Jedi2014

Recommended Posts

Galaxy season is open and here is the next one out of my pipeline.

During the three nights the conditions were mixed. Transparency sometimes good, sometimes not, Seeing always relatively bad.
The 21 hours for the galaxy are kind of a record for me. This is the longest I've ever stayed on a galaxy. Finally, I had the feeling that I could expose for twice as long, it would not get much better. In addition to the main actor, an overwhelming number of background galaxies can be seen.

So this is the final result:

It really is a pleasure to see a small, difficult target given so much care and attention. This is a beautifully crafted image. Background, stars and galaxy are unforced and just right. Superb, Jens. Again!

That is an amazingly deep image--20+ hours with the epsilon?  That's crazy. A wonderful image. I am surprised at the size of the galaxy from  this scope-- If you don't mind a little CC, I think I would notch down the blackpoint just a smidgeon.  It would really bring the faint spirals alive (and the background galaxies too).
