You can stick your laptop in a cardboard box laid on its side, and them a small dark towel or similar taped to the edge of it and draped over your head.  It's quick and cheap and will at least let you see the image.

Hi Bob,

First of all, it was great to see you at Kelling :)

You've got the Solarmax working then?

Time to get your needle and thread out? I'm sure your good lady can offer a few pointers!

I recently purchased one of these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/iCap®-Notebooktent-Protection-Sunlight-FrontCover/dp/B00GADA2HW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1507386373&sr=8-2&keywords=icap+sunshade

I've only had the chance to use it once so far, but it did a good job. Reflections were pretty minimal when I put the screen right back, though I use a MacBook which seems to have the most reflective screen known to mankind! I might add a black head sheet at some point. The good thing is it is designed to be waterproof, so can also be used for night time dew riddled sessions!

I used an IKEA Drona box from the Expedit units.

I've a small laptop, so turn it up the way, you might have to turn it sideways for larger laptops. If all cables plug in the back, you're fine. If on the side, you might have to cut holes. I bolted a ply square to my tripod, and secured box to the ply.

Hiya Tim, thank so much for your help at Kelling. Yes it was the blocking filter ITF bit. all sorted now and works great. Now to do some imaging and I am sure I can get the Mrs to knock something up.
