March 15, 2017: Waning gibbous moon, 46 pane mosaic

Recommended Posts

Much to my surprise, the weather cleared after 11:00 PM, so I got out the scope, and once the moon was above the trees, attempted to shoot some 1000 frame videos with my ASI178MM (after midnight). Cue clouds! I persevered, and despite grotty seeing made a 46 pane mosaic. The last panes were shot through thin scudding clouds, but the result is OK, although not nearly as good as what is possible under good conditions.

Clicking for full resolution is advised. I was disappointed that I couldn't shoot Jupiter, but given the seeing, it would probably not be very good. There is a prediction for clear skies after midnight tonight, so maybe I can get another chance
