Problem updating ASCOM to 6.3

I read in another thread on here that there was an update available to ASCOM 

I have downloaded the file and run it but it fails every time with the error message in the attached image. It has also uninstalled the previous version 6.0 - leaving me with no ASCOM and a clear night approaching !!

Any ideas ??

It might be a Net Framework error - do you have a version compatible with ascom 6.3? Failing that, try downloading the 6.3 again.

Yup - downloaded again - same issue - also tried running as administrator - same problem !!!

Ok, my next suggestion is that you upgrade/reinstall the .NET framework

I thinks it's .Net framework 4 or later for Ascom 6.3

Thanks folks - I am running Windows 10 and just trying to find out what version of .net is running - it seems to be well hidden !

I have .Net framework 4.5.2 and can confirm Ascom 6.3 runs fine (Windows 7 pro 64bit)

OK - its running 4.6.1. flavour of .net

Just going to run windows update to see if that does any good.

OK running update didn't make any difference at all !

I am stuck now - off to hunt for old version of ASCOM before it goes dark - the skies are clearing nicely!!  That will teach me not to be so keen to be an 'early adopter' !!

It says in the link I posted: 

• For WIndows 8 and later the .NET Framework 3.5 option must be enabled in 
• Control Panel / Programs and Features / Turn Windows Features On and Off
• Visual C++ 10.0 libraries

Just installed Ascom 6.3 on this machine (Win 10) and it installed ok with .Net 4.5

Found a copy of 6.0 SP3 installed and running just fine - weird one that!

All good now.

Glad you got it going, Billy.

My computer kept telling me mine was up to date. And it was, with the 6.2 version.

When I actually went and got 6.3, then it updated.

I'm running Windows 10 Home Edition.

(But sometimes I wonder if it isn't the Homeless Edition)

One of my windows 10's is Home-sick - it really wants to go back to Microsoft!

It doe snot help solve you issue, but

I run two machines with exactly the same build, and when updates come in I apply to one, inf it works after a few nights imaging or processing whatever, that I apply to the second.

However, easy for me to say as I have several identical PCs following decades in IT and trying to keep up to date with things
