One of the big challenge when doing astrophotography from a light pullet area is taking LRGB photos, but after many hours of work I’m very happy with the outcome.
The Pinwheel Galaxy M101 I photo during the last 2 weeks. It’s a beautiful galaxy in Ursa Major…right next to the handle. The galaxy is about 21 light years away and it is 170,000 in diameter. It estimate with 1 Trillion stars (Wikipedia).
Here are some photo details:
Luminance – 60x 10Min = 10 Hours
Red – 30 x 3Min = 1.5 H
Green – 30 x 3Min = 1.5 H
Blue – 30 x 3Min = 1.5 H
Total Exposure: 14.5 Hours
Telescope: Skywatcher P250 F4.8
Camera: QSI586 Mono
Mount: ASA DDM60
Filters: Astrodon Gen2 LRGB
Software: MaximDL, Photoshop CS6.

Superb images of a tricky target, especially from a light polluted site.

One minor error in your description though... it is approx 21 million light years away not 21 light years.

M31 'Andromeda Galaxy' is the closest to earth at 2.5 million light years.

Very well done.

Best regards.
