Anyone want to go halves ?

Selling a scope at £58,500 ad the tutorials dealing with the absolute very basic ideas of imaging? Have they lost the plot? Maybe a website for the BORED MILLIONAIRE with nothing else to do. :glasses12:

Some very nice gear though.

Very nice. I'm still waiting for some to 1/8ths on this with me though:

It does come with its own trailer...

:D

No good for imaging though so have to pass.

I was tempted for one Nano second, until I remembered

I have £58 pound in the bank not £58,000 also

the other inherent problem in buying a new scope is clouds

and it appears in the UK the more you spend on a scope

the more clouds you get, and that's a lot of clouds :)

F1.44. Bet that'll work out of the box!

But the killer is this: £58,000 to work at an image scale of 4.29 arcseconds per pixel using the camera recommended in the ad. Noooo.

This would be a scope for professional widefield suverys, perhaps, but working at 3.5 "PP is already as coarse as I want to go. That's what we get in our Tak FSQ106 and Atik 11000.

If ever we get a 36mm square chip with 3 micron pixels then this instrument might have a role in life!

F1.44, that's fast. But would it have any advantages over a much cheaper triple rig? As Olly says, sounds like it would make an ideal survey scope. I've had a quick go at imaging at this speed with a 50mm lens, 30 seconds on Orion gives with a modded DSLR and 12nm Ha filter gives this.

Great fun but the star shapes in the corners do suffer, portrait lenses are not designed to produce flat fields.

Sorry I'll pass.

I do however drool over this:

Even TEC themselves say, though, that this represents a big increase in spending over the TEC140 for a small increase in resolution. Hey, I'd like the 180 but you can expect to pick up a 140 for less than a quarter of that price.

I love the shipping time on this one - somewhere between 2 and 12 months....
