M44 - Beehive Cluster

This is the WO Star 71 with an Atik 383L.

13 x 5 min Red, 12 x 5 min Green and 15 x 5 min Blue (and then the clouds rolled in).

Moon was half full and illuminating the garden so some LP is visible.

A gorgeous little cluster is m44, the picture more than adequately demonstrates that.
I never got the Beehive description, although I guess it could be a swarm of bees .
It's remarkable that the naked eye smudge of light we see turns into a lovely sight like this 
when Imaged.
It's a very cold morning here in Cumbria, but seeing this has warmed me somewhat.

I've re-examined M44 a couple of times in the last week with my ST80,after reading an article about it in the Feb edition of 'Astronomy Now'.

'Burnham's Celestial Handbook' gives a lot of in-depth information on the legends,lore and imagery invoked by this cluster.

Nice image of a lovely subject but you might consider running HLVG or SCNR on it, the star colours are just a bit off.

Gloriously strong star colour which makes this a remarkable Beehive. Maybe the blues could be a little less green, as Mike says, and the background sky might benefit from neutraization. It seems a little warm on my screens. But this has attitude!

Thank you all for your kind words.  That background was a little war, and a bit green.  I have tried to fix that and fix the blue star colour too.

Nice pic Steve, I ended up taking a few subs of M44 the other night when I was searching around for a target for the Star71 QSI683 combo now that all the nice big stuff has disappeared into the S'London LP
