Iceland Aurora - On our last night.

Recommended Posts

It was touch and go, but after a week exploring some of Iceland in mostly cloud, we finally got a reasonably clear sky and a fabulous auroral display the night before we flew home.
Here's three images from that evening. As soon as I get a chance, I will be producing an animation showing how active it all was, changing all the time, which I will post on my Web site.
An hour after all the excitement, the clouds closed over once again. So as you can imagine, we came home very, very satisfied.

Very nice Dave, lucky you! One of these days I'll get to see them, but I think you need a lot to fall into place. Were they bright to the eye?

We went to Iceland during the summer months; a remarkable place but of course you won't see aurora. Where abouts was it?

This was in Kevlavik, not too far from the airport. These were 10 second exposures. Boy!, you just couldn't miss them they were so bright. Slapped you right in the face.
