Only picked up the alerts on my phone at 2300, by that time it had cleared here; went out from 2330 for an hour but nothing visible - by other reports the event was probably already over by then?

Confirmed sighting in Bedfordshire last night as well I have seen the photos, couldn't see it myself though.

Is it likely to be visible tonight? been keeping an eye on aurorawatch and geomagnetic activity has been steadily rising since the morning. It's on 'minor geomagnetic activity' at the moment.

Guess I'll have to try with the camera even if the (failing?) eyes are not seeing something. 

Trouble is I tend to set my expectations based on the unexpected and wonderful displays of the night of 6-7 April 2000, when in the early hours the whole sky was almost on fire, even down here in the Thames Valley.  That night I had three 35mm cameras and an 8mm camcorder, but all with expired batteries

I saw 9 on the metre on one of those sites, prior to that it had been 6.33. it was around 10pm when I saw 9 appear did't stay long at that number.
