M27 Dumbbell Nebula - 1st guided attempt

Last night promised to be clear, which it was, but there was a definite slight haze to the air.

Dew had attacked everything by 9pm, but I carried on regardless, as you do.

Thanks to Derek for the vixen dovetail, I was able to mount the ST80 on the 250PDS.

This is the 1st guided test image on the 250PDS / AZ-EQ6 combo, and although not a showcase award winning image, I though I'd share it nonetheless.

The flats didn't work out properly, so the huge gradient was 'patched up' in lightroom.

Anyway, equipment:

250PDS

AZ-EQ6 GT

Canon 1100D Baader modified

Astronomik CLS clip filter

ST80

Imaging Source DMK618

Software:

APT

PHD2

DSS

Lightroom

About 1 hour 6 minutes of lights (300s each)

50 minutes of darks

Bias

Poor flats

Nice image Jon, I was collecting a few subs of M27 myself last night before the clouds arrived, usually capture a few at this time of year to add to the folder, don't know if I'll ever get round to processing them

Cheers Dave, I'm still way down on the learning curve.

One thing I did learn from last night, is how flexible a large reflector is on a mount, even though I have a losmandy dovetail, it still moves far too much for me.

I lost 2 or 3 subs, and the rest weren't great either. Shouldn't be losing any!

Must save for a triplet refractor!

And maybe an Atik :o)
