Some more challenging PNs

Had a good session last night and thought I would continue with theme of tracking down some more ghostly PNs at F9:

NGC7048: Mag 12.10 in Cygnus
NGC7026: Mag 10.9 in Cygnus (non-linear stretch seemed to bring out more detail, but made stars look a bit odd)
NGC7008: Mag 11.0 in Cygnus
Minkowski 1-79: Mag 13.3 in Cygnus
Minkowski 2-51: Mag 13.6 in Cepheus (tried sum stacking this as it was so faint, was this worth doing?)

All objects were viewed on the newly installed 32" TV. :)

Hope they're of interest.

Rob

NB: Been having some problems posting, so please excuse duplicates, errors, etc.

Very nice! The stars look very nice. Are you guiding?

Thanks! I'm not guiding, I polar align as accurately as I can using the polar scope and the mount just tracks in RA. I suspect there is the odd duff sub but I believe the stacking process of Starlight Live removes these.

Hi Rob,

Very nice set of images. Thanks for sharing them..

One question, which CCD are you using ? did you use your SX Lodestar Mono ?

They look really great..

Bye

Thanks Martin, much appreciated. Yes I am using the SX Lodestar mono (the original, not the X2) and Paul Shears' excellent Starlight Live software. A nice simple setup.

Refractors, even APOs, can have NIR bloat so an IR block filter can help but reduce the camera sensitivity by 1/3 or 1/4. All radiation come to a common focus with 100% reflector like a Newt. Focal reducers as used in this type of imaging can introduce some bloat but usually it's not too troublesome.

The use of IR block in AP is normal to preserve good colour in their inordinately long exposures but hardly apply when exposures are very brief as in video/EAA :-)
