Fantastic post.  What does it mean?

Means the second highest solar storm rating resulting from the flare a coule of days ago and the coronal mass ejection that accompanied it.

Very strong chance of seeing aurora at lower than usual latitudes , clouds permitting that is.

Have you seen Stargate SG1?  There is a character: Colonel O'niel, who only wanted simple explanations.

Clear weather here right now in Ireland, but likely to not get dark enough to see anything unless it's truly spectacular later on..

If you click on the N.H. map to enlarge it , and then click on the 'play bar' at the bottom you can watch the storm develop in animated form , pretty darned cool it is to watch.

Well, quite!

One of my bucket list things is to see the Aurora.  But am in South Wales.  Was going to look at Venus etc later.  Maybe someting else will come up?

Front came in from the N by 2230, so totally clouded out here

Managed to catch it down here in Oxfordshire, was best about 1am you could see the streamers in the sky but only the camera was bringing the colour out.
