What is this refractor?

My friend has just dug this out of the loft and he was wondering what scope it was, he got it ages ago, any ideas?

Looks like a "no name" 50mm refractor. Might be a 60mm but it's difficult to tell from the photo. Celestron did a scope called the Powerseeker 660 which looked very similar.

That mount and tripod is going to do it no favours !

Tasco used those style pivot points on the tube. They're a right pig for a young teenager to put back together...

Going back to the 70's this looks like a scope that my friend had which was sold by Dixon's, remember them, Prinze I think the name was, they were popular at the time following the Moon landings, I had the 3 inch scope they made on a EQ mount, not at all bad at the time no doubt surpassed by miles now.

Not the galaxy in the room :-) if you can identify a grey smudge with 8*42 binoculars I would think you could also achieve it with this telescope.

Looks big enough to be a 60mm Prinz Astral or equivalent. I guess a lot  of us have had a scope like this from our youth

Hi,

If it was sold by Dixons, I suspect the salesman would say that NASA used this scope to track the command modules to the Moon!!

It would be nice to know what make it is. I don't think it is a Tasco....
