On Saturday after getting back from the BAA in Manchester the clouds parted very briefly so I was able to snatch just a few images. It was very windy and I had only small gaps but enough to capture 4 one minute avi to get a full range of disc features. The PST is really the best in the world for very quick captures in terrible conditions. So I present my first glimpse of the Sun for 2 weeks.

I hope we get some better weather soon.

Thanks guys :)

Robin, I think the missing ghost was because it is not quite on band (optimally), I only had enough time to hit record after putting it on. Then in the next brief gap I thought I would optimise it, then no other gap came along and I gave up. So it was luck really that the ghost isn't there, so it must be slightly off band somewhere. For the single stack I use around 1/625 to 1/455 depending on the weather, then the double stack reduces it down to 1/70 to 1/120 somewhere around that.

Thanks Alexandra, I have just had a fiddle with the camera settings and ended up with pretty much the same settings. I am trying to set a shorter exposure for the 1.5x double stack to reduce blurring caused by the atmosphere, that means upping the gain, but with stacking the noise should be reduced.
