Hello all, my name is Toni Vines and I'm based in Ipswich, UK. I'm a total newbie but really loving it all. I've had a love of astronomy for years but sadly done very little about it. Recently I suffered a heart attack and now can't work so I've got the time to 'get stuck in'! My wonderful daughter has bought me a telescope and now I'm out almost every evening studying the sky. I'l be posting loads of questions so please bear with me!

Hi Toni and welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about your recent health difficulties and hopefully during your recovery we can help bring you up to speed on all things astronomical. I would certainly recommend that you download some free planetarium software called "Stellarium" which is popular among members here and you can read more about it here. It will help you find objects and identify those you discover along the way. It can be configured from your precise viewing location and thereby produce an identical sky to that which you will view using your new scope. It will at least help you learn the sky when those clouds come back in - and stay in!
