Plenty of clear skies last night - pity the moon had to do its thing but at least managed to get the scope out at about mid night and spent 40 minutes on Comet Lovejoy and a few other old favourites

Temperature dipped below -1C last night - was quite suprized to get up with no frost on the car - I think any observing needed to be in the earlier part of the night last night as it got quite hazy later on but looks like we could be getting another opportunity Thursday and Friday night - a last chance at Ison perhaps for the time being at least.

November viewing stats starting to mount a comeback with the rest of the week Thursday and Saturday particularly looking good on Astro Panel. Last night was very windy but I guess if you could find a sheltered spot or had an obsy the chance was there - The moon is also starting to get out of the way in the next few nights so potential for a decent nights observing increasing in the short term.

November is coming up trumps now- I've given tonight the all clear all ready and even more good news in prospect over the next few nights. Going to attempt Ison again tommorrow morning though I don't have a great shot at it from my Garden. Once the moon is out of the way next week may try a midweek trip out to get some observing done while we have the chance. Just starting to feel the observing season proper has arrived.

Beautiful clear night if you managed to get out early but the high clouds drifted in around 9.30 to 10.  Friday night in my part of the world is looking good - was tempted to see if anyone fancied a trip to Blaenavon in the evening as the rugby is Saturday and conditions not looking great but -  the forecast for that part of the World not looking as good at the moment so might be back garden unless things change - will be worth keeping an eye on the forecast as we get closer to the weekend.

Mike - I've got Friday off - if the forecast is looking good for the night I'm up for a few hours at Balenavon- seems like a lifetime since last time I had an evening up there - I'll give you a pm and post here - just checked Astropanel and its not looking good but I'll take a look at the BBC Website in the morning and see what the chances are.

Saturday night looked stunning - hopefully everyone got a shot. After Wales v Australia, Wine tasting session, Party with Karaoke until 2am I was lucky to find my way home let alone do any observing lol

December looks like its going to drag the average down a little but theres cold nights to come at the end of this week so presumably the high pressure will mean clear skies once again fingres crossed

Astro Panel - bit of conflict here- astro panel is showing wall to wall cloud for the rest of the week but the BBC is showing crystal clear all Wednesday night - I'm backing the BBC this time.

Well if we maintain non observable nights right up until New Years Eve which I'm sure we won't - the worst the numbers can reach is 36% viewing - pretty much one night in every three which is pretty good going - this is not helping when tonight is forecast as clear and the wife wants me to go shopping and get a Christmas Tree and Friday - also starting to look possible and I'm on my travels to see the daughter - perhaps next year I'll have to input an opportunity lost column which in my case is going to be pretty much stacked :0(

Well December got its first observable chance last night and what a stunner - moon was a no show and Venus burning brightly - me I was stuck in the attic hunting for Christmas lights as another chance to observe passed by. Going to have to check what the moon is doing over the Christmas period and hope to get in some serious sessions out in Brecon or Mid Wales to make up for lost time.

Not a classic last night but there were constellations viewable through the patchy cloud- the earler you got out the better although I woke to a beautiful clear sky this morning. Not looking great for the next few nights now unfortunately

Seems like we won't be getting the cold frosty nights we need this side of Christmas but still the best part of winter to come. I was in Oxford over the weekend so skies were local to me and Friday night was beautiful early on - very noticeable how huge the vistas were in that part of the world as well- not a Mountain or Valley in site the skies looked enormous.

There was a chance for a few hours last night if you got out early enough - banks of orangeness rolled in later in the evening and it was not great coming to work this morning but the way things are at the moment taking your chances when you get them is about as good as it gets.

We're in an observing black hole at the moment with no sign of escape unfortunately although Friday night around midnight I put my head out of the front door to see a stunning meteor flying accross the front of the house- presumably part of the Gemonids. Like Mike says- keep the faith - got two weeks off at Christmas so gonna get my gear ready to move at short notice ad fingers crossed get out for a few nights.

Lovely to get up to frost on the windscreen and lovely clear skies- pity last night wasn't so memorable- unfortunately that looks as good as its going to get for a while- Decembers dropping the average observing nights big time at the moment - I thought January might be an isolated appalling month with 3 clear nights but looks like December is made of the same stuff.
