I think Saturdays going to be the window in the weekend Russe but I'm not convinced at the moment surrounded by Friday and Sunday which are both progged for torrential rain and the moon is getting fuller by the night at the moment so pretty slim pickings would be my guess- great stats by the way - what are you using to aquire that data?

Window of opportunity opening Wednesday night by te look of it but the moon will be glaringly full unfortunately uless Luna is your thing

Just been on the weather forum I frequent and the people on there are forecasting a wave of high pressure to hit the UK from the weekend onwards so fingers crossed for some clear skies next week. Not sure if I'll be able to make the meet in Blaenavon as will be in Oxford during the day and might not get back until its dark (which in itself is not a drawback in this hobby I concede lol)

Has to be said that so far Septembers been a bit of a disappointment- but at least the nights are getting noticeably darker earlier and the moon is in full retreat now.

Wasn't expecting the clear sky last night - very pleasant suprize. Off to Oxford today to help my daughter move home- hope everything goes well for everyone in Blaenavon tonight - the start of my observing season will be this week so hopefully get a chance to get all the kit tested through before going to Brecon for the star party next weekend.

Pleasantly suprized to see the stars out and about last night despite some high whispy clouds. Astro panel is showing wall to wall clouds until Wednesday but fingers crossed its not one of its better predictions

It has to be said that September was a poor month on the observing front. I have a suspicion we will find the autumn months to be the worst of the year - certainly the dew and moisture content seems to peek in the next few weeks. Signs of high pressure coming in for the weekend though so all being well some chance of decent observing up in Pencelli - fingers crossed.

Autumn skies dragging down the observing average for 2013 which is a shame but still above 40% which is pretty amazing when you consider the general consensus from us all at the beginning of the year.

Again the Autumn skies dragging the average down but the 9 day rule remains well intact so hopefully we'll get some chances by the weekend- Milky Way is stunning at this time of the year and fair play the weather, it did eventually play ball for our star party in Brecon over the weekend.

Did anyone notice how stunning the skies were last night? Didn't get out myself apart from a brief wander around the garden to take a look but beautiful and clear - and cold - forgot what winter observing is all about after being spoiled all the way through the summer. Think we got out of Brecon just on time before the frost appears. It was also a pleasure to get up for work this morning open the front door and have Orion directly in front of me- seems like the season proper is just about to start again.

Had to wait until 10pm to get some patchy clearness but there was an opportunity for some mid week observing last night and again woke up to be greeted by a crystal clear view of Orion this morning - temperature down to a very chilly 4 degrees as well this morning - winter observing is on our door step - clocks going back in about 2 weeks.
