Astro Panel - well last night looked to have been it for a while- a small chance Friday night but its not looking good for the end of October

Last night was a window in the clouds at the end of October - didn't get home until late so it passed me by unfortunately but hoping once we've cleared the end of Autumn with its fog and condensation to get out and about a lot more- perhaps some early night, mid week treks into Brecon as well when the chance arrives but for now its back to Strictly with the wife  :0)

Is it me or since the star party at Brecon this season seems to be taking its time to get going again - clocks back on Saturday - would be nice to have some clear weather with it as well.

Observable percentage drops under 40% for the first time in ages today but there is a window on the horizon tonight so might be wise to take your chance when you get it  forecast looks pretty changeable for a while but there seems to be some thoughts on the weather forums that we will see the first cold spells of the winter arriving mid Nov - hopefully it will bring some clear skies with it at the same time.

Well we had a chance last night - it didn't look great seeing earlier on in the evening but my car was covered in frost when I got up so may have got better as the night progressed - I think however that might be it for a while and we see the viewing stats drop to the mid/high 30% region over the next week or so.

A few stars out between the clouds and high winds on Saturday night and pleasantly suprized to see clear cold sjkies when I left for work this morning but observing is going to be a fairly fleeting past time for the next two weeks I believe

Last night there was a glimmer of hope as I drove home but the skies quickly clouded over as the night progressed. Theres a chance we are moving to colder / clearer whether towards the middle of November but for the time being just got watch and see our observing stats deteriorate and the scopes gather dust.

SAhame about last night- the early hours of the morning were crystal clear . I think thats going to be the way of it for the next week or two before we enter winter proper.

First real hard frost of the winter for me last night but , moon apart, the sky was stunning especially after the dire weather we've had lately. I wish I'd got up a little earlier this morning and hunted for Comet Lovejoy but the extra hour (5am) then work is a big ,mental barrier - perhaps on Saturday morning but you can guarantee the weather won't play ball. Still, apart from the SWales star party, yet to get the scope out this winter but really looking forwrad to the next few months - bins are great but not quite the same and the break definitely builds up the enthusiasm for the cold nights again.
