Jupiter and The Moon

Quite good seeing even through a lot of the cloud which is quite thin. The Great red spot is about to slip out of view and that lovely little dark 'barge' is visible in the North Equatorial Belt when the seeing steadies now and then.

Yes - seeing is quite nice between the clouds. Quite frustrating! Jupiter is gorgeous though. Just been turning my attention to Orion, but I keep getting drawn back to the moon and jupiter, just looking up over my telescope - they're stunning together!

At least the thin cloud makes a nice lunar filter!

Merry Christmas all!

Yep the transit of Io made for good observing tonight, seeing whilst very good for periods lost a bit of contrast at times though, due perhaps to Jupiter's immediate proximity to the moon. However the pair together made for a fantastic spectacle.
