moon halo

I'm currently in my backyard in cheshire and the moon has beautifully perfect halo of light around it!

If you've never seen one before its well worth a look:)

Hi Kenny... I've just been out and spotted the halo.. Its beautiful... I was going to start a post on it but noticed you'd beat me to it lol. It must mean there's a storm coming... that's what they say about them.

Well been out side again... and it's gone as quickly as it appeared

Well i've been out again and the halo's back again... But the the real wow! was at 21:23Hrs a really bright meteor (or space debris) just went across from Auriga towards the moon.. Did anyone see it?

To be honest it's quite tricky to get a good image of one. Balancing the exposure and ISO setting to get the halo and not blow out the moon totally is very difficult. I suspect that you actually need the cloud to provide a bit of assistance in dimming the moon, or to combine multiple exposures to create the final image. I've not managed to get a decent one yet.

It's the meteorite that was supposed to kill us all two days ago, but it's been delayed because of the flooding.

I'm sure it was a meteor but what threw me was it seemed a bit too orange and it wasn't moving very fast as i'd expect... But i'm no expert, unlike you i suppose :grin: :grin:

estwing... I feel a bit of a Wally now... The pennies just dropped.. i think i need to lay of the shandy's for a while, I guess it didn't help that i gave up on him a long time ago lol...

Glad you enjoyed it Vince & you bagged a nice meteor.

I've seen these a few times now but around 8.20 it was definetly one of the best.

The halo is just about visible from Warrington at the moment, although it's very wide.

I have just been out and the the "halo" I saw was at least six fists wide. Really bizarre and amazing at the same time

Spent an hour or so trying to image it, but a combination of lager, no tea and wrong iso did for it, looked really good though.
