All in way off places like Finland, Rain Forest, Baikinor etc....

With basically three types of scope that means different ends and that confuses some.

Having been to some places that they do not have trip to such as central Australia, Mid and Northern Canada and seems they are not included. Even parts of the US are dark South Dakota, North Dakota are not exactly glowing. Greenland is not suitably dark.

From Kirksters picture, the article is in the Travel section of the newspaper, so it's not too surprising that the locations will be exotic.

It's sad that they portray astronomy to be something you have to travel to other countries to pursue (a bit like skiing). When all it really needs is for some enlightened (no pun intended) individuals in the UK to switch off some streetlights occasionally.

Yep seems to be more of an 'advertising feature' than anything of real world use. Contary to what we may be told there is plenty of dark sky observing in the UK if you go to the sparsely habited parts.
