Eyepiece cases

After seeing alot of the cases on here, alot of people seem to have steel cases, are these Astro brand cases or just regular metal cases. I am intending on getting one of these:

I Assume you can just cut the foam to accomandate what you want to hold, does anyone have any reasons that this one wouldnt work very well, or better cases taht can be used.

Lots use the Maplin cases.

Some come with foam you need to cut, some come with the pluck foam.

Worth watching out for a special offer that occasionally comes up, usually gets posted on SGL pretty quick when it does.

Thats what i wanted to hear. There is a maplins in Wakefield (according to google lol) So i will have a look on my dinner break. I can see myself making a hash of the foam cutting lol.

i use the maplins grey one found it perfect size depth and lockable at £20 perfect also its advertised as an opics case.mine got very dirty at last star party i washed it off no prob.

Another vote here for the Maplin cases.

I bought two when they were on special offer and came next day,even though one was badly damaged they replaced it next day no problem and i managed to repair the damaged one.

Great service from them.

Ive just picked mine up, Looks brilliant Mike. I understand why people get them delivered though. Live in Scunthorpe and work in Wakefield so take the train. The bag they gave me looks ready to split, and it doesnt help that the wind is really strong. But i got one

Just had a little peek inside, do you just push the squares through, or do they pull out so you form a space for what your putting in.

I have one and its great. My ST80, camera, EP's, T-mounts and SPC900 all fit in it really nicely.

I mark round what i want fitted with a marker pen and just use a sharp craft knife to cut the amount out i want to fit the item.

I also fitted my EPs standing upon end to save space,and have also managed to alter my fittings a few times as some of the bits i had fitted i no longer have but still managed to fit the new items.

Yeah when my new EPs get here ill have to see how they fit. I think theyre too big to go in vertical but my SW plossis certainly will. Hpopefully i can squeeze in my finderscope then i can totally do away with my other bag. Be tight though with bracket attached.

Yes i have my two bigger EPs lying flat as they are taking up the space my Telrad was in.

But the three BSTs i have are standing up and i have left space for the rest of the collection

Blue peter style works.. My Solar filter is definately attached to my dust cap in horrific blue peter style. Just think lots of brown tape..

Well below is my case now. Still waiting on 1 EP to be delivered, hopefully tomorrow, and im hoping the Telrad when it also gets delivered, will slip into the slot below the collimator. Going by the dimensions i got off a website, it should fit comfortably. As long as they were right.. Otherwise i'll be pretty (i removed my own word ) off lol.
