Just witnessed another silly auction today on eBay. Was hoping to pick up a TV 2x Barlow .

It went in the end for 107 £, not bad considering they cost everywhere 100£ new.

I purchased mine for 89 euro 1 year ago (about 71 £, new) but in Italy, from a chain of store who mostly sells glasses! It's a good barlow and It was a good chance!

I was told by someone a while ago that many people on ebay 'trade' and do not disclose their Paypal accounts to the Revenue. They are, therefore, quite happy to pay a bit over the odds for things as the money is not taxed. I know the Revenue has recently announced a clamp down on ebay traders so there may be some truth to this. There are also those who assume that everything on ebay is cheaper so don't bother to check!

Yes, never buy anything on eBay without checking elsewhere first.

Was looking for a DVD boxset and the high street price was £25.00 less than the best eBay price.

However picked up a Baader filter on eBay yesterday for nearly half price.

agree there are some crazy prices on ebay, i sold a meade LPI a year ago and it was sold for a whopping £135!!!!!! i was amazed that the winner had not done some research about the product!
