Darkest skies yet.

Found a spot with my darkest skies yet for viewing. Was amazed by the difference.Saw a large fuzzy patch to the north west.Think it may have been M31. Is that in the right direction? Also saw a bright white light which looked like a distant explosion. Is this normal? It defo wasn't a meteorite as seen loads before. Still buzzing. Totally breathtaking :blob10:

M31 should be low to the Northwest in the evening. Sounds like you got it; I can't think of any other bright fuzzy blobs in that area.

M31 is best in the late summer through to January, when high in the sky during the evenings. You may be able to see its elliptical companion galaxies M32 (quite bright) and M110 (more difficult).

Happy hunting!
