I just console myself with the thought that all the nights when it's cloudy, that scope gives exactly the same views my much smaller 'scope. Just like that Porsche stuck in traffic will only ever do the same speed as me .

That is a monster scope

I've looked through a 20" dob and that seemed pretty massive. It was designed so that you did not need a ladder though (ie: a fast scope). The views were something else

I'm a big guy and I'm really not sure I would relax enough to enjoy the views on a ladder tall enough to get to the eyepiece of that 30"

@jflowers - I think it goes on iPlayer after the extended veriosn airs on BBC4 on thursday - or you could just catch it then! Think the BBC1 repeat may be on BBC2 tomorrow also!
