Hi Prolixia and welcome to the forum. To help you find the wonders of the universe, I would like to suggest you take a look at Stellarium, a free piece of planetary software that has plenty of toys on it to keep you going when the clouds roll in - and they will! You can view it here. It has an advance Date/time facility which is useful to plan ahead what you want to observe by showing you when it will appear and when. Can even configure it to the location of your back garden which is useful if you have any obstructions that prevent you having a clear view of the sky.
