Seben scopes any good?

On ebay there s a Seben cassegrain scope, 90mm for £149. Are these any good?

But seriously there are much better quality scopes from Skywatcher, Celestron, Meade etc. for similar money.

I have only heard negative things about Seben never tried them though. But would take the advice on here, you dont want to get stung when there are so many more better scopes from established manufacturers.

My first scope was a Seben which I promptly returned as it was not what was advertised in the sale. They were good about it and I had no problems but NO to a Seben.

My first scope was a 6" Seben reflector and it was TERRIBLE. The viewing was so bad that I couldn't even see the moons of Jupiter. I complained and was told that I needed to buy one of their better quality eyepieces in order to get better viewing.

I got rid of it fast and bought a Mak 127 which was a zillion times better and for not much more money. There are normally plenty of good second hand ones available.

For a little extra money you could consider the Skywatcher Skyliner 150p Dob.

Excellent quality and optics.

Dont waste your money on a Seben!

I have only heard bad things about Seben, have to say, they look poor quality.

By the many reports it would seem unwise to invest in a Seben scope, I feel sure you will be disappointed

I have never used a Seben, but i have never read a single good thing about them. Given the wealth of experienced people here, i would take that as a very very bad sign and avoid Seben like you wouth the plague.

Its hard to be "knocked back" when looking for advice on a scope that you want, but you can rely 100% on the advice given here on SGL.

I purchased an 8" Seben a year ago for my first scope.

It is so bad I refuse to sell it on and it still sits in the back of my obs as a reminder to me to ask those in the know on here before rushing out and buying astro kit.

i owned a seben a couple of years ago,upgraded to a Helios 6" (skywatcher's old name) no comparison between the two scopes.you would be better off with just your eyes than seben scope,poor mount,poor optics almost impossible to collimate.
