M42 & M45

My last two images. Havent had any clear skies for a while. Just finished building a flat field box, so dying to get out and try some new imaging. Both captured with a LX200 8" F6.3 and a Ha modified canon 300d

I see you have had your 300D modified. How would you describe the difference it has made?

The mod is well worth the effort. Even though there is a little more processing involved in the final image, the sensitivity is incredible. I imaged the horsehead and flame using 90 sec subs - cant even get that with my dsi-pro. To be honest, I don`t think I will be using my dsi much now

That is interesting as I have an EOS 10D and it would cost less to have it modified than it would to buy a DSI PRO II...

Did you take and subtract any dark-frames when you made those pix?

Them is two excellent results Refracs. They are a couple of my fav. targets, and you did them proud.

Yes, I took dark frames and subtracted them. I need to do some flat frames aswell. Just finished building a flat frame light box.

Excuse my ignorance but I dont know what a modified 350 means I have one and would be interested as I use it a lot for DSOs

Hi, Modifying a canon dslr basically means removing the stock ir filter and replacing with another filter that is more responsive to the Ha end of the spectrum.

Some great info. there. Now I am tempted to modify my Logitech Fusion Camera. I may as well, it sits on top of my computer doing nothing. It may as well start earning it's keep now.

two great pics you have there. The M42 pic really shows the sensitivity of the 300D sensor with the filter removed.
