Google Earth UK Light Pollution Layer!

Hi, I've just created an image overlay for Google Earth showing UK Light pollution. I wanted to ask, is there anywhere I could upload the file (a .kmz) onto the internet?

You need to have Google Earth installed.

I used the image overlay on the options menu and added an image from the internet then aligned it to all corners of UK.

I tried downloading one before but it didn't work (imagine had been deleted off the server), so I made my own

I downloaded this and all I have is a red triangle over Europe with an red X in the centre, have I done somenting wrong . I deleted the file and rebooted but it is still in Google Earth, any help please .

It means it can't find the image. Make sure you're connected to the internet, and see if you can access the original image:

Sorry, I just saw you wrote Europe. If there's a panel over Europe then it's not this layer, try un-checking every box apart from Light Pollution in the Places panel on the left.

Thanks but I have found out how to delete it on the map and will just use the Mk 1 eyeball to see what light pollution there is .

remember though that for really dark skies, you need to be in a black/blue area, and you want at least 5-10 miles between you and the nearest red light source...thats not too many places now in the UK.

I've just been thinking about LP, in the '70's I lived near the center of Birmingham - B11 - and in the days before sodium lights I don't remember any skyglow... anyone got any good recollections of what it used to be like?

yeah its free, ive created a thread in the beginners section with some 10 mile radius circles of places to avoid

the scaling and positioning is a little off for Cornwall and Ireland, but it's very close!
